Our active committee

Bertha Mae Cooper-Rousseau is the Managing Partner of Rousseau & Cooper Law Firm and an Associate of 3 Hare Court, Temple London.

Bertha is the founding Chair of The Bahamas Branch of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. She has served on numerous disputes administered by the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes covering issues between States and investors in South America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. She has also been appointed as a Sole Arbitrator for a dispute administered by the Singapore International Arbitration Centre.

Recently, Bertha was appointed a Member of the Court of the Permanent Court of Arbitration. She is also on the panel of several notable international arbitration and mediation institutions, such as International Centre for Dispute Resolution Cruise Seafarer Panel (an international division of the American Arbitration Association); Shanghai Arbitration Commission; Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre; the Panel of Recognized International Market Experts in Finance; The World Intellectual Property Organization List of Neutrals, and as Chairperson/Persiding Arbitrator and Expert for the European Commission’s Panel of Trade and Sustainable Development.

Bertha is a Bencher of The Honourable Society of Middle Temple. She is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Botswana Institute of Arbitrators and Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators.

Bertha is the Honourary Counsel for the Republic of Botswana to The Bahamas.
